QUADER
Installation: steel wire, aluminum, electronics, 2014/15
QUADER consists of two transparent objects made of wire reaching from the ceiling to the floor of the exhibition space. The objects are assembled with 960 pieces of wire. Pure tone glissandi become transferred onto the objects via audio transducers. The tones are barely audible but appear as „standing waves“ along each piece of wire. Movements of sound can be perceived along the objects. This happens by software based modulations of the fequencies as well as the intrinsic resonance of the objects themselves. Object and sound are inextricably linked.

JULIUS STAHL *1978, lives and works in Berlin and Dresden. He studied at the TU Berlin and the Berlin University of the Arts. Stahl exhibited amongst others at Prix Ars Electronica Linz, Transmediale Berlin, ZKM Center for Art and Media Technology Karlsruhe, Donaueschinger Musiktage, European Sound Art Award Marl, German Klangkunstpreis Marl, CYNETART, Museum Dortmunder U, Skulpturmuseum Marl, Stichting IK Oost-Souburg, Ars Electronica Export.

SOUNDS OF SATELLITES
Space may be an anechoic place, but it is no longer empty. An expansive sound installation allows the visitor to experience the incorporeal but constant existence of men-made objects flying above our heads.
