MARTA HEBERLE
TransHeXXXenTanzPlatz
SHAPE Showcase 3 | A/V Performance
In TransHeXXXenTanzPlatz the body will be used as a sound interface: its fleshy signals will be transferred to and processed by computing machine. A special garment designed for the performance will limit some of the bodily movements in order to induce the emergence of new motor solutions and abilities. Apart from noisy, quick and dynamic shifts in audio frequencies the performance will also turn towards repetitiveness and recurrence of sound and body movement in order to turn it into a ritual magickal event and thus underline, that facing the crash of violent transformations we all tend to turn to universal symbols and primitive behaviors.

MARTA HEBERLE makes music for people with hearing impairment. She is an artist and theorist fascinated by transhumanism and the idea of transgressing and transcending the human. Disregarding disciplinary confines as well as those of genres, she focuses on electro sounds with a club vibe while at the same time producing another label with weird unbearable noise frequencies. Her experiments can be located at the intersection of sound and performance. For SHAPE she is bringing these two different types of expression together. One can expect a wall of noise broken apart by naive synth melodies and danceable beats. She will be using special custom made garments that will be utilized for controlling sound and that will fit into transhumanist ideas of man-machine fusion. Her performances consist of elements such as live coding, live visuals, analog synthesizers and sound generators and strong strobe lights. The idea is to create an experience reminiscent of singularity: a hypothetical moment in future growth of civilization connected with the invention of artificial intelligence.

Today, as we're observing exponential growth in various technologies, we are at the same time experiencing the phenomenon described by numerous thinkers as singularity. The humans are becoming transitional creatures. They may in time become superintelligence or on the contrary, be destroyed by it. How is homo sapiens dealing with this situation? Are we able to adapt to this ever-accelerating speed? The aim of the performance is to examine the possibilities and limits of a human body facing singularity. Is it really becoming obsolete? Or can it seamlessly mingle with technology?
